About Me
Currently I am studying Middle Grades Education at West Chester Univeristy. I have a dual concentration in Mathematics and English Language Arts. In addition to this, I am also obtaining a minor degree in Mathematics K-8 along with a minor in Literacy. With these degrees I plan to work with students in the middle grades not only to spread knowledge, but to stand as a support system in their learning enviroment. Middle school can be an intimidating stage in an child's lifetime however, with the help of a mentor the students know they can trust, it may enstill motivation within the students. In my opinion, teaching is not just about how you can help students to retain knowledge, but how they can assist the child in development for future life experiences and challenges.
Within this portfolio consists of various projects I have completed during the course of my Technology in Education class at West Chester University. Through this, I have learned how to utilize technology in my classroom, allowing lessons to become more adaptable and interactive for the students. The artifacts presented in this portfolio are demonstrations of the skills I have learned throughout this course as well as all meet the standards of the International Society for Technology in Education.
My Goals for the Classroom
1
Community
In my classroom, I aim to strengthen teamwork and peer relationships among the students. I want the students to be able to feel as if they are in a comfortable environment where they can bounce ideas and creations off of one another. Creating an interwoven classroom community will enhance students' social skills in and outside of school.
2
Engagement
Many times, students will have a negative outlook on school. This can lead to the act of not wanting to be "present" in the classroom or the activities during a lesson. In order to change this, I aim to utilize technology to keep the students curious and enthusiastic to learn during the school day. With the assistance of these technology platforms, it will maintain interactiveness within the class.
3
Individuality
During the course of middle-grade education, self-identity is a trying challenge. Discovering interests, hobbies, and likes/dislikes can be difficult. I want the children to feel brave and proud of who they are, and unafraid to express who they are. Utilizing technology as a child's form of expression will enhance their "signature mark" that they are able to present in the classroom to others to demonstrate the "real them".
